Treehouse Toys began its magical journey in 1993, when founder Kathleen opened the first store in Portsmouth, NH. Her vision was simple but inspiring: create a beautiful, joyful space filled with the very best toys—timeless classics, heirloom-quality treasures, and the classics every kid needs. Add in whimsical displays, real trees, and a treehouse-style counter, and the magic was complete.
In 1998, Treehouse Toys expanded to Portland, ME, where it found a home in the heart of the historic Old Port. This location shares the same sense of wonder and magical vibes! It also features a working LGB model train that happily chugs along above families as they explore the store.
Fast forward to 2022—after nearly three decades of toy shop magic—Kathleen passed the torch to long-time employees Rania and Ali. With years of experience and a deep love for Treehouse Toys, they were the perfect pair to continue its legacy. In 2024, they opened a third location in downtown Biddeford, ME, inside a beautifully restored historic building. True to form, it’s filled with magical charm—and even boasts a majestic reading tree where imaginations can run free.
